Chip Carving Instructions
CHIP CARVING STAMP BOX
The two blocks are to be fastened to the under side of the cover near the ends to keep the cover in position in case hinges are not used.
The puff box and the paper knives shown below were carved by Mrs. Edwin W. Foster of Brooklyn, N. Y.
The box is made of pear wood. It was turned by a blind student in a school for the blind in Gothenberg, Sweden, and then carved by Mrs. Foster.
The paper knives are made of apple wood. The blanks were made in Sweden but the carving was done in this country.
These carved objects represent a fine adaptation of the chip-carving forms that have been very common in the Northern countries of Europe.
